About the artist

As president of a multinational corporation I have travelled the world for 45 years.  I usually arranged my business trips to allow me time to paint, sketch and photograph the places I visited and to visit the fine art galleries of the world.

You would be as likely to find me in the rice paddies of Korea, the rain forests of Costa Rica, the plains of Africa, the glaciers of Alaska, the ancient ruins of Israel, the mountain passes of Switzerland or sitting in a street in Athens with a sketch pad or easel and brushes.

One of the divisiions of my company was involved in computer sales and manufacturing since before floppy discs and hard drives were available. One of our specialties was systems for producing publications by computer input. I was naturally interested in the electromagnetic graphics tablets that  were becoming available in the 1980's. Besides their obvious advantages for commercial design production I was intrigued by their potential for pure art.

About that same time, an ink jet printer known as the Iris was producing museum quality prints. In the early 1990's the word giclee was first used to describe the fine art quality ink jet printing as distinguished from the common commercial ink jet printing. Fine art was being photographed, digitized and copied on giclee printers.

I began working from my sketches and photographs to paint pictures directly on my computer using the graphic tablet and electronic pen brushes, eliminating the step of photographing and copying a painted work of art. I coined the word Giclone to assert the fact that my art was not a copy or a reproduction but an actual clone, identical down to the last detail of the original art.

I have produced a large body of eclectic art over the years, encompassing a wide variety of subject matter and artistic styles as the years passed.

Although I have occasionally exhibited my art in juried art shows or local galleries, my art has  been primarily a personal persuit shared with my family and close friends. Now that I am in my seventies and have divested myself of most of my business interests, I have decided to spend more of my time on my art.

I feel the urge, as most artists, to have my work seen by as many people as possible.

I am offering my paintings, both the originals and the limited edition, fine art giclones and giclees,  through this internet art gallery.

The prices are set low to allow our gallery visitors to purchase my work based solely on whether or not they like the way it looks. My friends joke that  because of my advanced age, my work will shortly get a sudden boost in value. I hope that's not too soon. There are many more paintings still in my head.
